bartending books

So far this year I have read 3 books about the history of cocktails and drinking in the United States and recommend the following 2.

173 Pre-Prohibition Cocktails : Potations So Good They Scandalized A President

and

How's Your Drink?: Cocktails, Culture, and the Art of Drinking Well

There are lots of recipies in both books in addition to explanations of how some of our favorite drinks originated.

Unfortunately at this time neither book is available through the Sno-Isle system.

One book that appears to be historical, about cocktails and in the Sno-Isle system is:

And a bottle of rum : a history of the New World in ten cocktails

Oh and if you're interested in British Comedy seasons 3 and 4 of A Bit of Fry and Laurie feature Stephen Fry concluding each episode by explaining how to make disgusting, fictional cocktails while Hugh Laurie plays piano. "Soupy Twist!"

Next time we meet I should have some thoughts on IM.

You might find "The Joy of Drinking" by Holland, Barbara an entertaining read.
